About Us

We have been dreaming of traveling the country for YEARS and will soon begin traveling as much as possible.  We moved into our 2011 Landmark Key Largo in April 2011 to prepare for Michael’s retirement from the Army.  Our goal is to see as much of the country as possible, visit with our family & friends, meet new friends, and  to relax and enjoy life.  We hope that you will join us on our journey across this great country of ours!

We are Michael & Kelly Barnett, married since May of 1985 with two grown sons.  Family is very important to both of us and our sons are a huge part of our lives.  We don’t have any real hobbies although we do have our love of travel, we like to watch movies in the theater or at home, Kelly enjoys reading her Kindle and Michael is learning to use his Kindle Fire.  We enjoy visiting historical places – Mt Vernon, Williamsburg, Ellis Island, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Mt Rushmore, etc.  You might even find us in a cemetery visiting a ‘famous’ grave – Farrah Fawcett, Clyde Barrow, Cpt Kangaroo, Dean Martin, Don Knotts, etc.

Our 25th Wedding Anniversary - a Cruise on the Mexican Riviera

Our oldest son, Zack, wife Kelsea and grand daughter Paityn live in Vancouver, WA while our youngest son Dan, wife Amanda and grandson Alexander live on Long Island, NY.   COMPLETE opposite sides of the country!  To make matters worse our only living parent, Mike’s mother, Alice lives in Arkansas.  So our family is spread out – making full-timing a wise choice for us.

Hi Michael and Kelly I don’t know if you remember me we met in Mission Texas this past winter.
I have been keeping up with you and it sounds like you are having a wonderful. In Texas we had a class C but we recently bought a Class A Fleetwood Bounder. We were the ones that were also in the Army. My hubby retired from it also. Well just wanted to say hi and take care. Judi

Hi Judi! We DO remember you! You were with 2 other RVs and you were kind of kitty corner from us! So glad to hear from you! Hope you and your husband are doing well! Maybe our paths will cross again someday!

Hi Kelly I was reading one of your posts about Michaels back. I don’t know what is wrong with his but if it is muscle problems I would recommend him trying Dolomite you can buy it at any health food store. I have a bad back and someone told me about this and it works. There for no more flexeril.
My heart doctor also uses it and is a big fan. On my first day I take anywhere from 14 to 16 and then I go down 2-3 tablets per day til I am ok. I wish him luck I know how it feels when you are completely knocked down and can’t do anything. With this stuff I can keep going carefully for a few days

        Hi Judi,

Thanks so much for the comment. Michael has degenerative disc disease in his back and neck. We’ll look into the Dolomite and see if it’s something that would help him or not. Can’t hurt to try.

I love your blog. What did you use for your setup. I love the background and the captions under photos and the overall look. We are going to become full-timers next year and I may want to set up a blog myself. Appreciate any input you can give m.

      Hi Terry!

Thanks so much for the HUGE compliment! I used WordPress and they have a large array of choices for your theme. You can kinda ‘test drive’ each theme to see how it will look before you actually commit to it. I just tell everyone not to be afraid to try things…it won’t break…explore because the possibilities are enormous.

I hope that you’ll enjoy full-timing as much as we do! It certainly not a lifestyle for everyone. You have to really enjoy your spouse/significant other, traveling, embrace change and living in a tiny space!

What kind of RV do you have and where are you currently located?

What do ya think?
