We were in no hurry to hit the road since we had an 11:00 rendezvous in Texarkana which was just 99 miles down the road.
With that in mind, we didn’t crawl out of bed until after 7:00 am. We had a good night’s sleep…quiet and peaceful. When we did get up we just relaxed in our recliners, surfing Facebook, checking emails and reading news stories.
We hit the road just after 9:00 am. The semi that we’d parked next to had left several hours earlier which made our departure much easier since we had a curb in front of us and another semi had parked behind us.
Our rendezvous was with our gate guarding friend Elaine and Charlie, who live in Louisiana. We met at the Texarkana, Arkansas Whataburger so we could enjoy one last tasty burger and enjoy another visit. Hopefully, we’ll be able to meet up again somewhere down the road.
We last saw Elaine & Charlie in November while we were waiting in the yard for a gate. Elaine is an excellent seamstress and she agreed to alter our Amish-made queen size quilt enough so that it would be large enough to fit our RV King-sized bed. The quilt turned out great and I can’t wait to get it on the bed.
We had a great visit (you know…one of those 2+ hour lunches that could go on forever) that ended all to soon as it was time for us to get back on the road and finish today’s journey.
We had another 99 miles left to drive to Leisure Landing RV Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas…our home for the next 5 days while we visit with Michael’s mom, family and friends.
Leisure Landing is a small park, but nicely maintained with very friendly owners. We stayed here last year in April and decided to come back. The park is located on a small ‘cove’ of Lake Hamilton so lake access is available although with our short stays and being here to visit family and friends it doesn’t do much for us.
We arrived about 3:15 pm or so and got checked in easily enough, backed into our site (the same site as last year…we requested it) and set up and then hopped in the truck and headed to Michael’s mom’s in Glenwood. It’s about a 40 minute drive but a very pretty drive.
We spent several hours visiting with Alice, Michael’s oldest brother, Eddie, our niece Allicia. It’s really hard to follow a conversation as they all speak at once so after a while I kinda tune out and read, work on a puzzle book, scan Facebook, etc. Although they all seem to be able to follow along just fine…must be something in their blood.
We got home after 10:00 pm and Michael took a breathing treatment right away as his allergies were beginning to act up. I went right to bed and relaxed. It was a good day.
