A Sad Day in Packer Land…

I started out my morning by mixing up 2 batches of muffins – blueberry & banana nut.  We had a couple for breakfast and the rest went in the freezer for easy future breakfasts.

Freezer full of frost!

Freezer full of frost!

While the muffins were in the oven I emptied the freezer into the cooler we purchased when the fridge was on the blink (working great now, by the way!) so that I could defrost the fridge.  I don’t know why but defrosting the fridge is one of my least favorite chores.  I might even give my sons for a frost-free freezer!  (shhh….don’t tell them!)  By 11:00 am the freezer was frost-free, wiped down and sparkling.  Sure can get a lot more in there when the frost is gone!

While the freezer was defrosting I put the making for some Corn & Ham Chowder in the crock pot.  With the Packers playing the Seahawks today I didn’t want to have to deal with making dinner so this was perfect!

LOVE these things! Get ya some!

When I use my crock pot I have found that Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners are an absolute must!  They make clean up SO much easier!  If you haven’t tried them or heard of them you can click on the link above to find out more about them.  You’ll find them in your grocery store in the same area as the storage bags and aluminum foil.  (This is NOT a paid advertisement!  LOL)

Michael worked on getting all of the totes and miscellaneous ‘stuff’ put back into the basement.  He’d taken it out and stored it in his mom’s car port while he worked on installing the new water pump.  With everything out of the basement it gave him a chance to wipe it down and as he put the totes back in he went through each searching for items that could be given away, tossed or stored here to lighten up our load.

We’ll be pulling out Tuesday morning heading back to San Antonio so we’ve been gearing up for that.  I usually like to give the house a fairly good cleaning before we travel…don’t ask me why.  I guess because it’s always nice to come home to a clean home after a trip.  Anyway, with our vacuum cleaner out of commission Michael brought his mom’s over so that I could get a good vacuum done on the carpets.

I told Michael I'd get him a pillow and he could sleep out there but he didn't go for that...

Michael also did a temporary fix on our underbelly that has been giving us problems for some time.  It will sometimes fall down and sags a lot.  He had used some heavy-duty tape a while ago to put it back in place but wanted something stronger to keep it from falling down.  He used some plywood and screws to tack it into place and then used Gorilla tap to cover the seams.  That should hold it until this summer when we hope to have the factory fix the underbelly properly.

I got my chores done before the Packer game started so that I could sit and watch.  It’s hard to believe I’m not much of a football fan (maybe that’s changing??) as there was a LOT of hootin’ and hollerin’ going on inside our coach.  Apparently I was pretty loud as Michael came in several times telling me to be quiet.  LOL

During half-time I took a few minutes to straighten the inside of the truck some so that it’s ready to travel.  A couple of days ago I filled our ‘snack basket’ with goodies for the road…beef jerkey, crackers, pretzels, chocolate, hard candy…that kind of thing.  Michael, especially, gets the munchies the minute we hit the road so I try to keep a stock of snacks in the truck.

After a very disappointing game we took the chowder over to Alice’s and shared dinner with her and Allicia.  We visited for a while but were back home shortly after 7:00 pm to relax for the rest of the night.
