Football, Fuel & A New Water Pump

We haven’t been doing much as it has been cold and rainy.  Several of Michael’s projects require him to be outside so with the weather the way it has been the projects have been on the back burner.

We did make a quick run into Hot Springs Sunday morning for groceries and other supplies.  We were back before noon so that we could watch the Packers/Cowboys game.  I’m originally from Milwaukee, WI and Michael is originally from Dallas, TX.  Our boys are Packer fans through and through so we were all looking forward to the match up.  It turned out to be a very good game with the Packers squeaking out the win.  Michael, of course, was not happy with the outcome…especially since there was a controversial call toward the end of the game that he felt should have gone in the Cowboys favor.

Crazy icy!

Crazy icy!

We had freezing rain Saturday night so when we went out to go into town Sunday morning we found a sheet of ice covering the truck but thankfully the roads were perfectly fine.  It continued to rain all day long but the temps were high enough that there was no concern for ice forming.

While out running errands we also stopped to fill the trucks fuel tank up with diesel.  We were at about a quarter of a tank and it only took $70.oo (at $2.59 a gallon) to fill it up!  Wow!  As nice as that is it really does give us concerns about going back to work.  We know that a lot of guards are waiting (and having been) for gates as they are few and far between.  So when we go back to work we’ll be needing lots of prayers.

Alice’s recovery is slow but steady.  She slept in her recliner the first 3 nights but managed to sleep in bed for part of Sunday night.  She’s been in a hospital gown since she left the hospital but this morning, with the help of Allicia, she was able to put on pants and a button down shirt in preparation for this afternoon’s doctors appointment.

The physical therapist was here this morning and ran her through some exercises to help get her to start using her arm again.  He took her out of her sling while they did therapy and I’m sure it felt quite liberating for the short time that she was without it.

Michael was able to get into the basement to work on switching out the new and old water pumps this morning. He put a space heater in there with him and closed the basement doors and stayed nice and toasty.

He ended up going with the same pump (Shurflo 4048) that was already installed.  He purchased it through Amazon using our Prime shipping so all we had to pay was the $151.00 for the pump itself.  Click HERE to see the pump.

He also ordered a pump silencing kit for an additional $20.00.  The pump tends to be a bit on the noisy side at times and his hopes are that this kit will help to reduce that noise.  So far there is a big difference in the noise level….I don’t hear it at all!  Let’s hope it stays that way.  Click HERE to check out the silencing kit.

We want to hear from you...whatcha got to say??
