New Gate on the Horizon

Posted by on November 24, 2014

We were preparing to go into town to run a few errands and Austin stopped by to tell us he had a gate for us.  When he first told us it would be today, as soon as we were ready to go but that changed in the span of about 10 minutes.  We’ll be leaving the yard tomorrow morning about 8:30 am.  (We like the extended notice MUCH better!)

Austin gave us directions to the new gate so we took a drive over there to see what it was like and to meet the current gate guards and see if they had any tidbits of wisdom to pass on.  The couple was very friendly and gave us the low down – sounds like we can handle it.

No Daisy on our new gate but looks like we'll have goats!

We’ll be working with a drilling rig for Encana (another new oil company for us) and we’re told the majority of the traffic is from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm with a few scattered from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am…we really like the sound of that!

There is also a central production facility right behind where our coach will be parked but we’re told we don’t have to worry about logging traffic that is going to or from there.

On the way back into town we decided to stop by and see Deb & Rod at their gate since it was kinda on the way back into town.  As we parked the truck and were walking down to their coach a pick up truck that was pulling in to the lease stopped, rolled down his window and said ‘Hi’…it was Victor from Schlumberger!  Sounds like Debbie and Rod will have the same frac crew we had on our last gate!  Lucky ducks!

As we were chatting with Debbie and Rod their land owner stopped by to introduce themselves.  NICE people….I think Debbie and Rod will be very happy on their new gate.

After chatting for a while we continued into town and got some lunch at Pizza Hut – the buffet…not bad.  After lunch Michael dropped me off at HEB so I could pick up a few items there while he went across the road to Dynasty to fill up both of our 40 pound propane tanks.

From there it was to pick up our mail and then on to Walmart to pick up the rest of the items we needed from town.

When we got home I put away groceries, repackaged some meat to go in the freezer and cut up some strawberries and cantaloupe to put in the fridge.  While I was doing that Michael used the pressure washer from Gate Guard Services (after getting the ok from Austin) to squirt off the coach quickly.

Before we left Debbie & Rod’s Michael told them we’d be back later to bring them some dinner.  We picked up burgers from Jerry B’s and took them out there about 5:30 pm.  We were all very happy with the burgers….they were excellent!  We had another great visit as usual but we didn’t stay too long as we wanted to get home and finish getting ready for tomorrows departure.

We want to hear from you...whatcha got to say??
