Our day started very early on Wednesday morning.  We were up at 4:20 am and out of the house before 4:45 am.  Zack drove us to the Salt Lake City airport and we were checked in, bags checked, through security and to our gate by 5:30 am.  Our flight was at 6:35 and we’d upgraded to first class so we were among the first to board at 6:00 am.

The first leg of our trip was to Houston and it went very smoothly.  We were served breakfast which was nice.  I read my Kindle and Michael played a game called ‘Pipes’ on his Kindle the entire 3 hour flight.  Before we knew it it was time to prepare for landing.

We had a 2.5 hour layover in Houston, giving us plenty of time to cap the 59 virtual Munzees around the airport, grab some lunch (Chinese for me and pizza for Michael), make a bathroom stop and leisurely walk to our gate.

The flight from Houston to Little Rock seemed to be over before it started.  Just a quick hour or so flight.  It really goes fast when you’re reading (or playing a game!).  We ended up arriving about 15 minutes before our scheduled 2:15 pm arrival time.  But had to wait on the tarmac for 1/2 an hour for 1 of the 2 United gates to open up.

Little Rock’s airport is quite small so it didn’t take any time to make our way to the baggage claim.  We made a stop at the bathroom and by the time we got to the baggage claim ours were the only 2 bags left on the thingie.

Mike’s mom was parked right in front of the baggage claim.  We threw our bags in the back of the car, Michael hopped in the drivers seat and we were off on our hour and a half drive to Glenwood.

Once back at Alice’s we set out to get the coach and truck moved into place so that we could get it plugged in and turn on the air conditioning on to cool off the inside.  Unfortunately, we had to learn from our mistakes again.  We didn’t turn off the batteries to the coach so they were drained.  With the batteries drained we couldn’t pull up the jacks in order to move the coach from it’s 2 month long parking spot.  Michael was able to get the batteries charged from running the truck and plugged the coach into the house.  It took about 1/2 an hour or so to get a good charge but Michael was finally able to retract the jacks so that we could get the coach moved into it’s parking space for the next few days.

Oh oh!

Oh oh!

Once the coach was in place we got it leveled, put the slides out and turned on the air conditioning.  We had about 1/2 a dozen dead wasps lying around, 1 pictured had fallen off the wall and the back splash behind the cooking area had fallen off the wall.  It must have gotten too hot in the coach and the adhesive holding up the picture and back splash warmed up enough to pull away from the wall.  No big deal…neither item was hurt and they’re easy enough for Michael to put back up.

We had a 6:00 pm dinner date with Michael long time friend, Cherie so we didn’t have much time to mess around.  Alice and Allicia joined us and we all went into town to meet Cherie at the Fish Nest.  We had a very nice visit and

Ahhhhhh.....

Ahhhhhh…..

enjoyed our food as well.  They all had catfish of some sort and I ordered chicken fried steak.

We got home just before 8:00 pm.  Michael and I were pretty tired after our long day so we pretty much went straight to the coach and to bed.  You just can’t imagine how good it felt to slide into our very own bed after being gone for 8 weeks!

Welcome back home. So far, we’ve never come close to that long out of the trailer.

Thanks, Jay! If you don’t ever have to be away from home that long….don’t do it! I love my kids and grandkids but being away from home that long it tough.
