We relaxed the morning away and had plans to do nothing today. However, Michael said that we needed ice (dang icemaker’s on the fritz again!) so we decided we might as well cap the 11 Munzee‘s here in town.
Canton isn’t big so capping the Munzees around town went pretty quick…a stop at Walmart (all of which no longer scanned and happened to be deployed by our friend Jay), a stop at CVS, Mr D’s, the First Monday main gate and another McDonald’s/Circle K and we were done.
While we were out we couldn’t pass up a stop at a local landmark, The Dairy Palace. They serve all kinds of burgers (beef, bison, salmon, spam, elk, veggie, catfish, duck, venison, etc) sandwiches, dinners, breakfasts and Blue Bell ice cream. We each went with a traditional burger with cheese and fixin’s and we shared fries and onion rings. The burgers were good but nothing spectacular.
Since our Munzee craving hadn’t quite been satisfied we decided to drive down I20 a few miles to the east and west bound rest areas that each had 20+ Munzees between them.
Among those were 2 virtual mysteries, 2 motels (1 with vacant rooms!), and 2 mysteries, plus Michael was able to cap a rover – so we both have one now and will take them on our travels!
The eastbound rest area bordered a cow pasture and I had a few of them that were curious about what I was doing when I deployed a Munzee. So I had to take their picture to share with you.
The westbound rest area had a nice nature trail that we took the opportunity for a couple of pictures. It also bordered some sort of animal enclosure with some white deer-like creatures we weren’t able to identify.
It was a nice way to get out and move around a little. It certainly wasn’t too hot as it only reached 60 today. Compared to the 90 plus we’d been experiencing while on the gates it was kinda chilly! We got a lot of rain last night and expected more today but at this point haven’t gotten any today. Perhaps later on tonight….
