Oilfield is never lacking in taste or portion size!

We’ve been getting spoiled again!  Life is good!  On Tuesday our Directional Drillers stopped by with home-made Cajun food for us!  Pork & gravy, rice & corn.  It was a little on the spicy side but not really hot…just spicy.  Very good.

Today the caterers came in from Big House Burgers and on their way out they dropped off two plates.  We expected burgers…but got ribeyes, shrimp, green beans and HUGE baked potatoes.  The plates were so huge that we split one and will have the other another day.  Everything was super yummy, as usual!

Cool, eh? The actual drill bits are obviously WAY bigger!

This morning one of the salesman stopping by gave us a couple of donuts to ‘go with your coffee’…we’re not coffee drinkers but we sure did enjoy the donuts anyway!

And if that wasn’t enough…one of the guys that we know from our last gate, who delivers drill bits to the rigs, came by today (he’d been here a few days ago) and gave me a sweet key chain with a mini drill bit on it!

Never thought I'd be so happy to see a dirt road get watered!

Oh!  Speaking of spoiled…we asked and we received!  A few days ago we asked the company man if it was possible to have the road watered as the dust was getting super-duper crazy.  On Tuesday evening that wish came true!  The driver took 3 swipes up and down the road, leaving it good and moist. Two days later the dust is still manageable but it probably won’t be for much longer.

The temperature cooled off significantly today.  Until early afternoon it was only about 68 but rose to about 74 by early evening.  The air conditioner had been working so hard the past few days it was nice to see it get a day off!  Unfortunately, it looks like the 90s are in the very near future.

I was talking with one of the truck drivers that’s been delivering brine water the past few days and found out that he’s originally from Chicago (I’m from Milwaukee).  Come to find out he went to Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas…just like Michael!  He was there just a little bit before Michael though…he graduated 1975 and Michael didn’t even graduate high school until 1982!  They had a good time reminiscing about the campus and the area though.

Only 3 more nights in the oil patch!  20 until we get to hug 2 of our grandbabies!!
