Using the drip torch to start small fires

Using the drip torch to start small fires

Another day at the ranger station for me.  I continued working on the Recreation Notebook project I yesterday.  While I was working I heard that the fire guys were doing a ‘prescribed burn’ (I’ve always heard it called a ‘controlled burn’) in the forest behind the office.

I thought it would be interesting to see what was going on so I walked back there, took a few pictures and talked to a couple of the guys.  It was interesting to watch the guys use a drip torch to place the fire just where they wanted it and determine which way the fire would travel according to the wind direction.

Fire can be so mesmerizing!

I tried another new recipe today.  This one was another crock pot recipe and it was for French Onion Soup.  After I doctored it a little bit it was pretty tasty.  I just have to get the French bread & mozzarella cheese topping squared away and we could have a real winner!

Michael straightened up the house a bit but otherwise took a lazy day.  However, he did make some peanut butter cookies (from a mix) after dinner and we enjoyed those for dessert as we relaxed the rest of the evening.

We want to hear from you...whatcha got to say??
