Travel Day: West Babylon, NY To Winchester, VA

3:50 am came awfully fast!  However, we moved pretty quickly and we were on the road just a few minutes after 4:00 am.  As I got into the truck I found that my wonderful son, Dan, had left me a gift…something we’ve been passing back and forth for about 6 years now.  (Stinker!)  The … Continue reading »

Our Time In NY is Fading Fast…

The days go by so quickly and here I find myself behind in my blogging again!  We have been parked here at Casa Barnett for 47 days!   Hard to believe.  We have seen Dan & Amanda sell their home, buy a new home, welcomed Ben into the world and loved every second of spending … Continue reading »

A Long Day of Errands On Long Island

In preparation to hit the road this Saturday we had several errands to run this afternoon.  We also made 3 Munzee stops to cap some special ‘bacon’ Munzee.  The 31st is National Bacon Day so to honor the day Munzee has turned various Munzees into strips of bacon to commemorate the day.  The special Munzee’s … Continue reading »

We attended the noon mass at St. Martin of Tours in Amityville today and had a very special guest with us…Alex!  Dan & Amanda were at the hospital preparing to be discharged so Alex went to church with Nana & Papaw.  This was his first visit to church and he did amazingly well.  It … Continue reading »

Benjamin LeRoy Barnett – Grandbaby #4

I went inside Dan and Amanda’s home Thursday morning to make some ham biscuits for breakfast to find that Amanda was having contractions and had been for about 3 hours.  She had gone for a check up yesterday and hadn’t made on progress toward delivery so we assumed it would be a while.  They ate … Continue reading »

House Hunting, Dining Out, Munzees, Church And LOTS More

On Saturday we went along with Dan & Amanda as they toured 2 homes, both of which were very nice.  The first was way over priced but the second, a new construction, was in their ballpark, in a decent neighborhood and had most everything they were looking for.  They ended up putting in an offer … Continue reading »

Munzee’s, A Picnic & Bouncin’ The Baby

The last few days have been gorgeous…mid 70s with a beautiful breeze.  We even slept with the windows open last night and it was wonderful! Today Amanda, Michael, Alex and I went on a Munzee spree.  Long Island hasn’t been hit by the Munzee bug yet so there are only a few in the area. … Continue reading »

Not Your Average Sight-Seeing Day In Manhattan

Wow!  Get comfy…cuz this is a long one! It started raining about 8:30 am and rained while we drove to the train station but we had checked the weather and it showed that by the time we go to the city the rain would have passed.  It stopped raining by the time we got to … Continue reading »

Church of the Week

We attended the 11:45 mass at St. Joseph’s Church in Babylon today.  Not much more than 4 miles from Dan and Amanda’s it was nice and convenient.  The church was beautiful inside and out, red brick with light-colored mortar.  Beautiful stained glass windows and tall domes.   The mass was closer to what we’re familiar … Continue reading »

New Dial, Happy Anniversary & German Fare

So here’s the lowdown for the past few days: Wednesday Michael needed to caulk around the basement doors since they were removed for the basement remodel.  He got that done fairly easy and even had a 19 month old helper to assist for part of the time.  While he was at it he also caulked … Continue reading »
