We started our morning off with a quick breakfast before heading to St. Frances Cabrini church in Camp Verde. The church is small but sits atop a hill that overlooks the valley below. A visiting priest said mass and we were intrigued by how particular he was about everything. Cleaning up after communion was quite a chore for him as it took him three times the amount of time as the average priest. Not surprising mass lasted an hour & a half where the mass before ours was concluded in 55 minutes (he didn’t say that mass)…we know that because we were pulling into the parking lot as people were leaving.
After church we drove over to Cottonwood to Walmart to pick up a few items to hopefully last us until we get to Ogden, Utah on the 10th. Once we’re at the Grand Canyon we don’t want to have to go out looking for provisions. There were 4 Munzees in the Walmart area so we grabbed those as well. We now have the Verde Valley pretty much conquered in terms of capping all the Munzees!
We had thought about visiting the V-Bar-V Heritage Site after grocery shopping but decided we’d rather take the day ‘off’ and relax around the house before setting sail for the Grand Canyon tomorrow. We’ve put that on our list of things to do the next time we’re in this area.
I made a traditional Easter dinner (ham, sweet potato casserole, Barnett fruit salad, veggie and deviled eggs for dinner. Now I have lots of ham to use in the future for soup, casseroles, sandwiches, etc.
We also watched several more episodes of The Walking Dead….it’s getting SO good!
