Munzee’s, Mountains & Windy As Heck!

First thing this morning the sun was shinning and we were treated to a beautiful view of the Franklin Mountains from our living room window.  It was so pretty & bright that I ended up going outside to take a few pictures in my nightgown.

We found our first Munzee here in El Paso and I also deployed my first 2!  I think we prefer Munzee over Geocache.  I’m hoping to go Munzee hunting a couple more times while we’re here as there are quite a few in the area to find.

Our plan for the day was to go to the commissary on Ft. Bliss and while we were on post we wanted to drive around post and see how much we could remember from when we were stationed here from June 1985 – September 1986.  For some reason neither of us remember much at all.  We were able to find where we lived on post…but it, and the whole housing development around it has been completely wiped off the face of the earth!  The whole area has been recently bulldozed and we’re thinking that perhaps they’ll be building new housing.

Michael served with the 1/43 Air Defense Artillery Battalion when we were stationed here but he couldn’t remember where the barracks were located exactly….he thought we were in the right area but not 100% certain.  We drove around a little bit more and he was pretty sure we found where his motorpool was, but it has been taken over by a different company.

I thought I remembered where our friends, Ken & Cheryl Dyal lived while we were stationed here and after a quick phone call Cheryl confirmed I had the right road and gave me the house number.  They didn’t live from ‘Colonel’s Row’ so we took a quick drive by that area as well.

The weather was supposed to turn windy this afternoon and it certainly did!  By early evening we were getting gusts of about 40 miles per hour that were whipping the coach around pretty good.  The slide awning on our off-door side slide is loose on one end and we were concerned about it ripping so we closed that slide to help alleviate  that problem.  The high wind advisory is in effect until tomorrow…hoping I get some sleep tonight!

While we were out we decided to pick up some movies from the RedBox in anticipation of some good old ‘down time’.  Our choices?  Prometheus, Alex Cross & The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

We want to hear from you...whatcha got to say??
