We are no longer alone in the back 40 (goat farm)! Yesterday when we got home from our day of adventure we had a Landmark parked next to us and by careful elimination we realized it was Dan & Ann Mayer. We met Dan very briefly at the Boerne rally last October. Then this afternoon we had Bob & Connie Sims in their Big Horn pull in 2 spots down…so now we have our own rally going down here!
It’s hard to believe that we are still in Texas! The temperature has definitely changed from what we experienced in Mission – lows of 60s with highs in the mid 90s. This morning we got down to just about 30 and a high in the mid 60s! You can be sure that the fireplace has been utilized as well as us wearing pants, sweatshirts and I’m even wearing SOCKS!
Some of what goes on at these rally’s is camaraderie…along with fellowship, of course. But you just can’t beat the helpfulness of others at these rally’s. When we were backing into our site on Monday we had a small encounter with a big rock and the fender of the truck. Jim B hooked Michael up with Terry Hershberger who happened to have a whole orbital buffing set up with him and he got it our boo-boo all buffed out and now we just need to get some touch up paint and we’ll be as good as new.
We also had an issue getting the satellite dish set up but with the help of Cookie (Dave Hromek) and Dan Mayer they were able to figure out that it was just zoned in on the wrong satellite and once they moved it to the correct satellite…viola…we had TV!
While Michael worked and chatted with Dan I played…I went Munzee hunting! It seems that our local Munzee expert has been hard at work placing Munzee’s all around the park! Unfortunately, my phone isn’t getting the best reception and I lost a signal halfway through my hunt so I’m hoping that I’ll have better luck tomorrow.
The actual rally started today and we had a Meet & Greet this afternoon where everyone was introduced to the other rally-goers, we picked up the shirts we ordered and were handed a goodie bag. After dinner we headed back up to the rally hall for a short while as people were meeting there to play games and visit. We only stayed for about an hour before heading back home as we were both tired and ready to relax.
