Today we had a nice relaxing day at home. Enjoyed sitting out on the patio and visiting with neighbors. I made a yummy dinner of chicken kebabs, rice, glazed carrots & cucumber salad, which we enjoyed out on the patio as well. Michael putzed with odds and ends outside. Just a good relaxing day.
The park provided a free hearing screening and hearing aid cleaning/repair and we figured it’d be a good time to have our hearing checked and Michael’s hearing aids looked over. The guy doing the screening took TONS of time with Michael…I think that he thought that he was going to find a cure or a reason why Michael lost his hearing. (Michael has a Sudden Sensiruneural Hearing Loss – an autoimmune hearing loss…no reason for it…it just happens. This man said that something had to happen to cause his hearing loss…trauma, loud noise…something) Funny thing is that 2 specialists and 2 very good audiologists haven’t been able to do that. Anyway…he left still needing his hearing aids but they were both cleaned and in good working condition. When he finally did my hearing check it lasted all of 2 minutes (if that) and declared me perfectly fine. Which is what I kind of figured but Michael makes me wonder sometimes as I constantly have to say, ‘WHAT’??’ to him. I think that because his hearing aids amplify his voice he thinks he’s speaking louder than he actually is…considering I have no problem hearing anyone else. So now that I have proof lets see if he speaks up!
Thursday night we went up to the clubhouse for the entertainment, The Coins. The Coins are a husband & wife act who perform classic country music. The wife, Brenda, has a beautiful voice but that’s about the best we can say for them. The husband, Andy, played guitar some…but their music was just recorded music and they sang over it. There was even a recorded background singer that Brenda sang with at times. Sadly, the whole thing was just kind of cheesy. It was hard to put them in the same class as the other 2 performances (Goldwing Express & Link Union) that we’ve seen since we’ve been here. The turnout for tonight’s performance was less than 1/2 of the other shows we’ve been to…I guess we should have taken that as a sign.
