Sadly our New York family left for home this morning. The time change was kind of rough on 12-month-old, Alex, so they were ready to get back to their normal routine. Michael and I are looking forward to seeing them again in March when we’ll meet in Phoenix to enjoy baseball spring training! Only 61 days!
Kelsea had to work 1/2 a day today but Zack had the day off so we went with him while he ran a few errands. While we were out it started snowing! Big, huge flakes! Paityn hadn’t seen snow before so it was fun for us to experience it with her. We even taught her to catch the snowflakes on her tongue!
With the snow coming down most of the afternoon Zack started a fire in the fireplace and we watched a few movies. A great way to relax and enjoy the day. We watched ‘Moonrise Kingdom‘ & ‘Looper‘ this afternoon. Moonrise Kingdom was a bit too ‘out there’ for Mike, Kelsea & I but Zack enjoyed it. Looper was more interesting and we all got into it more than we did the first movie.
Michael and I have made a semi tradition of going out for dinner on New Years Eve and we continued that tradition this year with Zack, Kelsea & Paityn. Zack & Kelsea took us to one of their favorite restaurants in Vancouver, Gustav’s. Gustav’s serves traditional German cuisine. The food & atmosphere were excellent and we all enjoyed our dishes. Michael tried the ‘Munich Feast’ (Jagerschnitzel, bier sausage, pork cordon bleu, spaetzle, sauerkraut, red cabbage & a Bavarian pretzel). Kelsea had Chicken Jagerschnitzel, Zack had the sauerbrauten and I had one of the New Years Eve specials – Chicken Schnitzel Oscar. It would definitely be a place I’d go to again and recommend to others.
