We had a long but great day yesterday! We were up at 4:00 am for our 6:30 am flight to Houston where we caught our flight to Portland, Oregon. We had just under 2 hours in Houston so we grabbed breakfast at Ruby’s Diner (pretty darn good for airport food!) and picked up a Subway sandwich for lunch on the plane. Both flights were uneventful and we arrived in drizzly Portland just afternoon.
Our daughter-in-law, Kelsea, used her lunch hour to pick us up and take us to their home in Vancouver. While she and Zack were finishing up their work day I wrapped several Christmas presents that we’d had sent her via Amazon while Michael chilled.
Finally, 5:00 pm came and our beautiful Princess Paityn arrived home from school (daycare)! I was worried she’d be quite shy around us as she’s just 22 months and we don’t see her nearly often enough. She knocked on the door to have her Papa (daddy) let her in and instead it was her Nana that opened the door….and she got a big ol’ smile on her face! She wasn’t shy at all! She ran to me, we played, she giggled, I giggled, she showed me ornaments on the tree and the snowman picture she made at school. I was in Nana heaven!! She was a bit more reserved around her Papaw. It could be that he now looks like Santa (she even called him that once, I think!). But after a while she was even sitting on his lap playing cards with him.
Now we just have to wait for our grandson, Alex, to arrive on Christmas Eve and we’ll have both grandbabies here! Paityn’s patiently waiting (so’s Nana) to play with her cousin. She’ll point at the pictures on the wall and tell you that’s Alex. She’s one smart lil cookie!
By the time we went to bed last night…about 9:30 PST we were pooped! I didn’t even read…which is quite unusual. I was awake just before 5:00 am and finally gave in and got up a few minutes after 5:00 am. Which is fine…gives me a few quiet moments before everyone else starts getting up and getting ready to go to work and school. Michael and I have some shopping to finish up and will be meeting Zack and Kelsea for lunch.
