We were up about 7:30am, had a breakfast sandwich from Kelly’s Kitchen and were pulling out of the park at 9:03 am.
We took a more ‘backroad’ route than normal – mostly state roads which was kind of nice (took a little longer) as we were able to see a little more of the countryside than we would have if we’d only been on the interstate. For the second day in a row we chose to skip Kelly’s Kitchen for lunch and stopped in Lawrenceville, Illinois at Hunan Garden (downtown on the square). Michael wasn’t too happy with his sweet & sour chicken but Alice didn’t mind it and my garlic chicken was fine.
Our drive today was a bit longer than we like…about 410 miles. We arrived at Clarksville RV Park in Clarksville, Tennessee about 6:15 pm. It’s a nice park – well maintained with a pool, grills & picnic tables at each site, well laid out, greenery at each site, free internet & several TV channels available via the antenna. The only drawback is the $40 price tag. Oh well…our Passport America savings last night help out tonight!
We only have about 330 more miles to go tomorrow. We got word from friends we met on the Heartland forum (they ended up buying a DRV) that they were leaving their home in southern Mississippi to come visit us (and get away from Hurricane Issac) at Ft. Toulouse Campground! They are now there waiting for us! We’ve never met in person so we’re looking forward to meeting them!
