We had a quiet day yesterday. Did some visiting with friends during the day and then went to Beagles Bar & Grill in Lyndon Station for dinner. We had a small group of 25 but the place did a great job of accommodating us and getting food out relatively quickly. Michael, Alice & I all had the fish fry (as did many others) – it was ok…but we’ve definitely had better but when you aren’t able to get a Wisconsin fish fry whenever you want it….you take what you can get!
Today was a nice relaxing day. We didn’t do much of anything other than sit and relax. We did go over to John & Rana’s for lunch. John grilled some hot dogs and we had lots of different sides to go with them. As always we enjoyed some good conversation.
After lunch we attended a Wine tasting in the pavilion put on by Fawn Creek Winery. Neither of us are big wine drinkers but we pleased with those that we choose to try…mostly semi-sweet wines. We thought about buying a bottle or two but decided against it as it tends to just sit around forever before we finally force ourselves to drink it. We had a good time chatting with Lou & Bette again though!
Tonight was the all-famous Heartland potluck attended by about 60 people. The group provided grilled pork chops for the main dish and along with all the side dishes that everyone brought there was a TON of food! I made banana pudding and it was completely wiped out! Which is good because I didn’t want to bring any home!
After dinner we stopped by Jim B’s place and chatted with him, Dave (Cookie) & Ray LaTourneau – the latter two being active on our Heartland Owners Club forum so it was a real treat to meet them both and spend a little time getting to know them. Through our talks I found out the Dave went to high school with my oldest brother and graduated just a year ahead of him! Wow! I also went to the same high school but graduated 17 years after him!
This evening the majority of the rally-goers went to the Tommy Bartlett Waterski Show. We chose not to so instead we got together with 7 others and enjoyed a nice campfire, some laughs and good conversation. We met one of the couples back in April in Gulf Shores, Alabama at a rally and enjoyed getting to know them a little better at this rally. We also got to meet a woman and her husband whose blog I’ve been following since early this year – she also follows this blog so it felt like we already knew each other although this was the first time we’d met in person. We stayed about an hour before we headed on home to get some sleep…rally’s are HARD work!
