Unfortunately, we had to head back to home-base Montgomery today. 🙁 We’ve had such an enjoyable time seeing a few of the sites around Huntsville. However, there is still a lot more to see and do – so if we’re ever in the area again we won’t be hard-pressed for something to do!
We pulled out of site 9 at Redstone Arsenal RV Park at noon, dropping our garbage in the dumpster on the way out. We stopped for a picnic lunch about 1:00 pm at rest area along I-65. I had made Turkey Wraps with Cucumber Cream Cheese (I added shredded cheddar cheese too) for a light refreshing lunch. We found a nicely shaded table under a shelter and watching the goings on as we ate. We were back on the road after about 45 minutes.
We decided to stop at the Peach Park in Clanton since we were going to take the ‘back way’ home instead of going all the way into Montgomery. Since our home base RV park is just south of Wetumpka & a little north of Montgomery we like to go this way to miss the hassle of Montgomery. We picked up a couple of peaches and some other fresh produce. We had planned to get some ice cream (since it’s National Ice Cream Day!) but the line was MILES long! (ok…maybe not miles…but it was long!) So we just got our produce, checked out the Big Peach Statue in their garden area and were on our way.
We pulled into site 2A at Capitol City RV Park in Montgomery about 4:55 pm. We were set up, unpacked and kicking back within 30 minutes. We have our set up and tear down down pretty well! After relaxing for a little while we headed into Wetumpka to pick up some fried chicken at KFC (Michael had a craving). The rest of the evening was spent relaxing – watching some TV and surfing on our laptops.
