Michael went to the VA office here in Montgomery today to see what’s going on with his case…since he has not been contacted yet. The gentleman he met with could see that a claim had been filed in May and that his records are in Atlanta. Since time is getting short with us being here he suggested that Michael go back next week, put in an address change (using our sons New York address) and then give them our itinerary and they’ll work to schedule appointments wherever we may be. I really don’t have a whole lot of faith in that…but I’m not gonna worry about it. I’ve been worrying myself sick lately and I ‘m just not gonna do it anymore. We’ll just take it as it comes.
I realized yesterday that the RV Park at the Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville only has 30 amp electric and wasn’t sure what to do. Thankfully, a friend of ours, Rana, reminded me today that there is a military campground, Redstone Arsenal RV Park (actually 2) in Huntsville. I did a little checking and found that they have full hook-up with 50 amp service and are still fairly close to where we want to be. I called them and they have a site available for the next 4 nights for us so we’ll be staying there instead!
The water heater repairman from Alabama Motor Coach finally showed up about 5 minutes to 3:00 pm (we had told them we were leaving town at 3:30 pm) and he says we need a new thermostat (that was Michael’s diagnosis too!). He didn’t have one on his truck and since we were leaving town and won’t be back until Sunday – he’ll be back next week to install it.
We left Montgomery about 4:45 pm, stopped in Pelham, Alabama at Whataburger (Yum!) for dinner and arrived at Redstone Arsenal RV Park about 9:00 pm. It started raining shortly after we left Whataburger and continued the rest of the way. We had a good time backing into our site in the dark and rain – we sure do prefer pull-throughs! However, for the conditions we did VERY good…I’m quite proud. The site is HUMONGOUS and completely paved. At this point the only negative we noticed was that the electric & water (water’s not too bad) are located at the very front of the site – making it hard to plug-in without the bedroom being almost in the road. But we go ‘er done!
