Slept til 8:15ish this morning – sure felt good! (Unfortunately, Michael was up about at 3:30 am and out the door at 3:45 am.) It was chilly (50 degrees) but Michael wasn’t here to start a fire so I gave it the old college try and was able to get a nice fire going! Ahhh…
The new helicopter pilots were quite busy all last evening, all night and most of the day today! We had LOTS of helicopters flying overhead starting last night just before dark and they continued today. I think it’s neat to have them fly overhead – although I’m sure not everyone would appreciate it. I got a couple of pictures of the helicopters from our patio today – but they’re not the best. Keep in mind that none of these are the same helicopter and I didn’t get pictures of tenth of those that flew over! I think most are either Apache’s or Blackhawks ( I can’t tell the difference!) and there were quite a few Chinook’s as well.
Today’s Best Warrior competition included an APFT (Army Physical Fitness Test), written test, essay and the Land Navigation Course. The APFT was first thing this morning at 0500. The APFT consists of push-ups, sit-ups and a 2-mile run. The Land Nav Course is basically a map reading test. The soldiers have to find their way from one point to another on foot across various terrains – using a map & compass. They do the Land Nav during the day and again at night. Since it has to be dark out to do the night – that means that Michael won’t be home until close to midnight tonight. 🙁
I made some more reservations today for our retirement travel! Here we come Grand Canyon (Grand Canyon Trailer Village) from April 1 – 15, 2013!! I also made reservations for a months stay in Phoenix (Desert Sands RV Park) during the month of March – so looking forward to going to some Brewers spring training games! We went for a week in 2009 and hit about 6 games and LOVED it! Highly recommend to anyone that can go to GO!
