Good Friday & Opening Day…Ahhhh…

Posted by on April 6, 2012

Today is significant in so many ways….  It’s Good Friday, my mom passed away 19 years ago today, Michael has the day off AND it’s the Milwaukee Brewers OPENING DAY!!  Go Brewers!!  Next Saturday & Sunday we are going to the Brewers vs Braves games in Atlanta!!  I can hardly wait!!!

Unfortunately, we had several errands to run again today.  First stop on our agenda was Titan Fabrication to pick up our tool/fuel box.  We dropped it off last Friday to have it modified and it was ready that day but it didn’t work so they went back to the drawing board.  This time it worked just fine and we were on our way in less than 10 minutes.

Completed modification. Not exactly what Michael had envisioned...but it will do

While we were in the area we decided to look for a few caches.  I found the first which was a memorial to an area volunteer firefighter and took us close to 15 minutes to find and it should have taken WAY less than that…but we’re new to this and we’ll get the hang of it!  The second one was one of a series called ‘March of the Penguins’ and it took us a LONG time to find this little tiny micro cache!  Michael eventually found it and we were on our way to look for a third in the area.  Unfortunately, it is at a school and we decided to forgo it until another time as it was recess time and people were everywhere.

Yay! My first find!

This was a little tiny itty bitty micro...Michael finally found it after we searched for quite a while!

Next stop…Shinbaum’s.  Michael got a call a few days ago from the man who was looking at the items that he dropped off last Friday to sell and the man offered him $200.  We were quite happy with that amount as it was a very fair price.  Shinbaum’s is just outside Maxwell AFB Day Street gate so our next stop was at the clinic to pick up my prescription refills and Michael had to speak with Major Stohler’s nurse in order to have a retro-active authorization put in for the follow-up appointment for his ear surgery that he went to on March 2.  It seems that his last authorization expired last September and UAB neglected to tell us that so we received a bill for $400.  Hoping that this takes care of it.

That's the Maxwell clinic. I took the pic from the Shinbaum's parking lot...right across the street. BUT...since it's on base...you have to drive about 3 or 4 miles because it's fenced in!

We had to stop by the Reserve Center as the Unit Status Report (USR) was due today and Michael had to teach 1LT Reeves how to do it.  I left him to do his work and went home to watch the Brewers opening day game.  We found out earlier today that MLB Extra Innings is free until the 15th of the month so I’m gonna take advantage!  When it was time to go back to the Reserve Center to pick up Michael I recorded the remainder of the game so that we could watch it when we got home.

Watching the game. (2011 MVP Ryan Braun on the screen! Woot!)

Last stops were over in the East Chase shopping area where I had to make a few returns.   We stopped at Ross Dress For Less so that I could return a shirt that didn’t fit like I wanted and then to Lane Bryant to return some items that I had ordered online and didn’t fit right either so I placed a new order for a different size.

We spent the rest of the day on the patio watching the Brewers game (Ugh…not a good start to the season…they lost 5 – 11.  Now we just need to learn from our mistakes and move on), eating dinner and visiting with neighbors.  Our Heartland friend, John, who is here visiting from Minnesota stopped by and we had a nice long chat about lots of different things.  It’s so nice to have finally met he and Rana in person!  Can NOT wait til we get to do this all the time!

Ha! Exactly….we’re normally about 20 years younger than most of our Heartland friends…there are only a few that are closer to our age and it’s nice! See you later today!

We want to hear from you...whatcha got to say??
