We had a beautiful day here in Montgomery, Alabama yesterday – with the sun shining and the high reaching about 76. Unfortunately, Michael had to work and was not able to enjoy it in his entirety .
On days that Michael has to work he usually gets up between 5:30 and 6:00 with me getting up about 6:15. While he showers I normally make breakfast so that it is ready shortly after he is out of the shower. He leaves for work between 7:15 and 7:20. Now that we only live 4 miles from the Reserve Center his commute takes no time!
While Michael is at work I take time to check my email, catch up on Facebook, shower, do my chores, go to the commissary, watch some TV etc. He’s back home about 11:45 for lunch and has to return at 1:00 to finish out his day. We have a quick lunch (sandwiches, salad, soup, frozen pizza etc) before he is gone again. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays his work day ends about 3:30 (but don’t count on that!) and Tuesdays & Thursdays he is done about 4:30.
I usually have dinner ready between 5:30 and 6:00 and then the rest of the evening is spent watching TV or a Movie and of course you can find our laptops in our laps.
On Wednesdays, we have a ‘Me & You’ night. A night where we try to stay away from the TV, laptops, etc and just spend time with each other. We might go for a walk, play some cribbage or another game….but it gives us time to actually talk and spend time together without ‘electronic influences’ interrupting.
Last night after Michael got done with work he went with me to the commissary (unusual) to do my weekly grocery shopping. When we got home I made Taco Dip for dinner while Michael made a fire outside. It was a great way to end a beautiful day…Dinner beside the fire with my best friend – a girl couldn’t ask for much more.
Before we called it a night, Fay, from next door stopped by to chat for a while. She and her husband, Jerry, are in their 70s and have lived in their Class A motorhome about 6 months longer than we have lived in our 5th wheel. They own Jerry Higgins Tire in Montgomery.
